General cargo vessel S.S. "Paringa". Built in 1908 by Scott of Kinghorn Ltd - Kinghorn. Owned by Adelaide Steamship Company Ltd and lost en route to China on 26th December 1935. "Paringa" together with "Rupara" and "Morialta" established the "Gulf Trip", which for fifty years was one of South Australia's most popular holiday runs. Chief ports on this tour were Port Lincoln, Port Pirie and Port augusta; later Port Hughes and Whyalla were sometimes included.
