Passenger Liner "Fairsky" laid down by Western Pipe & Steel Co, san Fransisco as cargo liner STEEL ARTISAN; completed as escort aircraft carrier USS BARNES. Transferred to Royal Navy 1942; renamed HMS ATTACKER. Returned to US Navy 1946. Bought by Simtar Line 1952; rebuilt as cargo ship. Renamed CASTEL FORTE and registered in Panama. Refitted as passenger ship at New York and genoa 1957-8; renamed FAIRSKY. F.V. Southampton-Australia, 26 June 1958. Registry transferred to Liberia 1966. Route: Southampton-Eastbound round the world. Laid up at Genoa 1972.
