Paddle Steam Tug "Adelaide", built in 1877 at Aberdeen by Hall, Russell & Co for Messrs. Elder & Hughes of the Adelaide Steam Tug Co Ltd. She made the trip to South Australia under sail, and had her paddle wheels fitted after her arrival at Port Adelaide on 30 - 7 - 1877. She had the new style surface condensing engine, and was reputed to be the first Australian Tug so fitted. "Adelaide" served the towage business at Port Adelaide, and for a short period at Port Pirie (where she was the first resident tug) until she was gutted and converted into a barge in 1905 on the arrival of the new Tug "Wato". She was named "No 7" and served as a lighter at both Port Adelaide and Port Pirie until she was cut up for scrap in 1958, after 81 years.
