"Ketches of South Australia" By R Parsons describes "Hecla" as a 2 masted ketch of 22 tons built in 1903 by T Beauchamop of Birkenhead, SA.  Official number 117421.  An auxilliary engine was fitted in 1915, and the vessel was registered for the first time

"Ketches of South Australia" By R Parsons describes "Hecla" as a 2 masted ketch of 22 tons built in 1903 by T Beauchamop of Birkenhead, SA. Official number 117421. An auxilliary engine was fitted in 1915, and the vessel was registered for the first time in 1905 by Christie Calm Dale. In 1921 she was owned by A V W Schjelde, in 1940 by NP Irvine, in 1946 by WE Scruby, and the register was closed in November 1946 at owners request as she was no longer required. Re registered in 1947 as Miss Hecla by Alex Hay Williams, fishermen of Port Lincoln, she then reverts to name Hecla in August 1953. By 1969 she was owned by T V Modra Thistle Island.
