Tug "Tancred", built in 1943 by Gulf port boiler and welding works inc. Port Arthur, Texas, USA. Ex HMAS Tancred 47. Bat 1344. Diesel vessel with a Gross tonnage of 505. Operated in the Pacific Theatre in the final years of World War 2, recovering grounded ships. After the war the South Australian Government used it for the berthing of numerous passenger ships which then used the port. She was also used by the SA Harbours Board in the 1950's and 1960's to make annual inspections of various outposts. In 1980 she became uneconomic to retain and was sold to a Perth business man. Unfortunately she has been left gutted, rusting and with grass growing on her decks as she has been left to deteriorate at her Port Adelaide moorings. Now totally scrapped.
