She was launched on 27 January 1927 and completed in June 1925. Her inaugural voyage was from London to Sydney beginning on 3 July 1925. Her base port was London and she had a crew of 278. She was owned by P&O. Tonnage: 15248 gross Dimensions: length 548', breadth 70', draught 31' Motive power: twin quadruple expansion engines (13000 IHP) Service Speed: initially 16 knots, later 17 knots Passenger decks: three Passengers: 203 first class and 103 second class Livery: Black hull, stone (later white) superstructure, black funnels and red boot-topping.
