H.M.A.S "Parramatta", a type 12 anti submarine destroyer escort (ex frigates) river class completed at Cockatoo Island dockyard in 1961 after being laid down in 1957 and launched in 1959. Vessel carries 4.5-in guns in turret forward,one triple anti-submarine mortar, quadruple Seacat anti-air missile launcher aft and the anti-submarine missile Ikara launcher(Ship's Company 250) This vessel weighs 2500 tons and is the third Australian Navy vessel to bear this name.
