Passenger cargo vessel "S.S Herbert", built in 1884 at Newcastle upon Tyne by McIntyre & Co for Alpin Brown & Co Ltd of Brisbane. She was sold in may 1888 to John Williams and registered in Launceston . In 1889 she was owned by United S.S. Co and in 1896 by The Adelaide Steamship co Ltd. In 1899 she was lengthened and used mainly for River and coastal passenger traffic in North Queensland. In 1900 she was used briefly to relieve on the Eucla-Esperence- Albany mail run. In 1913 she came into the Gulf of St Vincent to serve small ports such as Ardrossan. On 9th August 1932 she was sold to S.W. Davids & Sons of townsville. She was later moored as a beacon marking Myridon Passage, Barrier Reef.
