Tribal Class destroyer completed on 23 - 11 - 1942. Built at Cockatoo docks, Sydney. In March and April 1943 Warramunga performed convoy escort duties between Queensland and New Guinea. The next month she joined task force 74 stationed in the Coral sea, helping provide cover for allied landings on Woodlark and Kiriwina islands. After covering several other island landings Warramunga helped support General MacArthur's return to the Phillippines in October 1944. Warramunga was at Tokyo Bay for the Japanese Surrender on Sept. 2nd 1945. From Nov 1952 to Oct 1954 she was converted to an anti-submarine destroyer, having previously escorted aircraft carriers and aided U.N. landings in the Korean war zone. She was placed in reserve in 1959 and scrapped in 1963. Displacement (tons): 1970 standard, 2675 full load.
