Sailed from Sydney for Singapore as a troop transport with AIF units, ship was delayed for over a week due to an industrial dispute with her Engineers, "Australia in War, 1939-45: RAN, Vol 1, p451", by G.H. Gill, (AWM, 1957); ship further delayed in transit of Australian Bight by strike of Coal Trimmers, until Australian soldiers took over to move the coal, statement in 1997, by 8th division signalman John J. Collins at page 2041 of "Submissions, vol 9, Parliamentary Inquiry into sinking of HMAS Sydney". Had Zealandia been on time, Sydney's fatal action would not have occurred;
