Incomplete journal by Caroline Waring 2-29 Sep 1826 (in Bay of Biscay), in NL, Canberra, MS 8997; Ship was run down on night of 2 Sep 1826 off Gravesend by a Brig from the Baltic and lost her bowsprit, jibboom and rigging which delayed departure. Ship was reported to have left England in an illegal manner; Cumberland left Hobart for return to England on 27/5/1827 and went missing. ship was taken by pirates in mid Atlantic.
