Towed out of the Mersey River for first 24 hours; Crossing the Line and parading in fancy dress was popular; sighted a comet on 5-6 Oct and a single Iceberg on 12 Nov; Spoke to Black Ball Clipper Helen Stewart on 29 Nov, a few days before Melbourne; "from Mersey to Melbourne : the Shipboard Diary of a Scottish Migrant, 1858", edited & privately printed by L. Richards, copies in Merseyside maritime Museum and GSV, Melbourne;
