Left Clydebank the previous evening and arrived at Tilbury to board the Orion on the 15/07/1962 to start our long voyage to Sydney Australia. From memory we arrived at Sydney on the 20/08/62 after calling in at Fremantle, Adelaide and Melbourne. Thirteen of us boarded at Tilbury consisting of grandparents, parents and children, I was four and a half years old but still remember parts of the voyage. On arrival at Sydney we were herded of to East Hills migrant hostel a horrible place of corrugated iron huts and dirt. My parents vowed to get us out of there quickly which they did, my mother detested that place until the day she died, remaining family members are now scattered along the east coast of NSW
