Is the 1851 passager list for the courier complete? Mr G.CADLE must be george cadle my gg grandmother"s first husband - cadle is old gloustershire name and he was one and only george. Their family tree has no known place or date of his death. Where is Mary and babe then. This ship does fit their movements - a June departure as they were both in the English 1851 census unmarried but working in the same shop. Both as MR George Cadle and MRS Mary Cadle appear in the 1852 Adelaide paper for the heinous crime of not collecting their mail ! George is quite troublesome, he seems to have come to some sticky end as Mary remarried in June 1853 and there ia simply no record of his death anywhere. Their daughter Ellen Mary Wenham Cadle does not fare much, searches from England, at sea and South Australia fail to find her. WHY George even emigrated defies logic'; he was a chemist from a well off land owning family.
