Thomas McEntee was a farmer from Drumgoon (or Drumgood) in the Irish County of Cavan. When the famine and cultural oppression forced his parents (Michael McEntee and Mary Phillips McEntee) to leave their land and move nearer to Dublin. Thomas was 19 when he decided to pursue a better life and traveled aboard the Frenchman from Liverpool to Adelaide.
