Johannes REHN was born in Friedewald, Hessen, 5 March 1813 to Johann Georg Rehn and Anna Margaretha Führer.
He married Anna Catherina Elisabeth Schröder in nearby Hönebach, on 2 Oct 1834, and they had a daughter, Catherina Elisabetha Rehn, on 8 Oct 1835.
Johannes and Anna joined the immigrants for George Angus' project in South Australia and left Germany in about October 1836, travelling to England, and boarding the "South Australian" departing from Plymouth, Devon, England 24 Dec 1836. Their daughter was initially listed on the first ship manifest as "dau" however she did not leave Germany, remaining in Friedewald/ Hönebach where she died 29 Jan 1839 at Hönebach.
A first son named Sebastian is believed to have been born at sea or shortly after the arrival of the "South Australian" at Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, South Australia, Australia on 22 Apr 1837, he died in infancy,
After 18 months on Kangaroo Island, the settlers relocated to the Adelaide area in late 1838 - 1839
A second son named Sebastian was born in the Paradise or Fifth Creek area about 1841, followed by John on 25 March 1842 at Dry Creek or Fifth Creek, Joseph on 15 April 1844 in the Payneham area and Henry on 12 Oct 1851 at Houghton.
Johann Rehn wrote his Will shortly before he died in the Adelaide Hospital on the 26th March 1853.
