Description
Ann Morphett (nee Colgate, b.28 Nov 1795) initially came out to South Australia in 1838 aboard the Trusty, with her son Jeremiah and his wife. She returned to the UK shortly after (before 1841) to be with her other children. Another son, Richard, immigrated to South Australia aboard the Taglioni in 1842. Jeremiah and Richard created the settlement of Clarendon. The family were 3rd cousins of Sir John Morphett who enticed them to come to South Australia.
Ann's sons John, George and Henry also immigrated but ships unknown. Son Frederick arrived on the Wellington in 1851.
Ann died in Angle Vale in 1869.
