Mr. J. BOCKMANN

This passenger was named Julius Ernst Christian Behrend von Böckmann descendant from a long line of German/Danish nobility through his parents/grandparents, namely the von Schack and von Ahlefeld line. He came from Mecklenburg, Vorpommern Germany. Born 29 Jan 1822- 13 May 1884. Buried in Blyth South Australia. He owned a farm in Rosenthal/Rosevale. He married Sophia Karutz in 1849 in Biendorf, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a few weeks before they travelled to South Australia. Sophia was the daughter of a Mill owner of Dutch descent. The marriage record states he was an economist, and that they intended to immigrate to SA. He is the 4th great-grandfather of my daughter in-law Emma nee Arbon.
