A young man who declined his father's plans for the family to migrate to South Australia in the service of his church (The Bible Christian Church from Cornwall} arrived on the Brigantine Flash inbound from Melbourne. The man (boy) was about 18 having stayed behind to further his education when his father left England in 1850 on the Anna Maria which arrived into the Port River (Port Misery) in November 1850. This boy (man) rose to become the Chief Justice and Lieutenant Governor of South Australia. He is commemorated by the Law Courts building in Victoria Square (the {Sir} Samuel Way Building).
