Mr. George MALIPHANT

George Maliphant was my G-g-g-grandfather and was coming to Port Adelaide to build smelters for the English and Australian Copper Company. He was a master mason who had built smelters in southern Wales for the Morewood Tinplate. In 1860 he brought his 20 year-old daughter, Elizabeth, with him to keep his home in Adelaide. He stayed in Australia, building smelters for approximately 15 years before returning to his family in Wales. In 1862, his oldest son, Charles immigrated to Australia to build smelters.
