This was my Maternal Grandfather who came across to Australia from Macedonia and was among the first wave of ethnic Macedonians to settle in Adelaide and South Australia. He came to Australia to seek economic stability (known as 'Pechalbari' in Macedonian) and to allow him to bring his family to Australia at a later date to escape ethnic persecution and a better life. Unfortunately, in our family's case he was unable to bring my Grandmother (his Wife) and my Mother (his daughter) here until June 1948 - some twenty years later. This is not an uncommon story for many of the early European migrants to Australia.
For the record, his actual Macedonian name is Agir Pizarkov (spelt phonetically).
