Mr. E. PANTELIS

This is my dad, he and my mum Thomai arrived at Outer Harbour on 21 Dec 1957 from Pireaus, Greece, on the Orion. He had a degree from Athens University in Theology and was hoping to continue studies in that regard at Adelaide Uni; sadly language requirements at the time precluded his admittance. Today, he'd be welcomed with open arms. He took numerous jobs in SthAus, including lynotyoping and bricklaying and travelled to Coober Pedy to try his hand at opal mining. He took a job as a bus conductor witht he Municipal Tramways Trust in 1959 and then as bus operator, a position he held until his retirement in 1990. They lived at on South Rd Kurralta Pk, 267 Gilles St Adelaide (residence when I was born in 1964) and 20 Gunliffe St Taperoo. He tragically died in a house fire, aged 88, in 2013. He was the best dad I could've hoped for, inspiring, encouraging, knowledgable, incredibly well read, intelligent, generous and loving. I miss him.
