My ancestors Ann McKay and her husband John Gould arrived on May 7, 1867 with 11 month old Jane/Jeane/Jennie Gould at the port of Philadelphia from Londonderry. Ann was born in Ballycastle, Ballintoy, Antrim, Ireland. John Gould was supposedly born in Scotland right across the water from Ballintoy but they lived in 0100,CROAGH DISTRICT,ANTRIM,IRELAND in 1864. Ann/Anna McKay was the daughter of Eneas McKay and wife Jane Stewart who is mentioned on the death certificate of Annie Gould, mother of Jennie Gould who married Sidney George Morgan in Ardmore PA. Jennie was working as a servant at a saw mill owner’s house near there when she met George. Jennie had been placed in an indigent industrial home/orphanage by 1870- John Gould her father may have died shortly after getting off the Village Belle. But by 1870 age 15 she had been released to work as a servant and she had learned sewing. Eventually Annie Gould came to live in Ardmore with her daughter Jennie Gould Morgan who died 1940. Annie Gould died 1925 in the same house at 14 W Spring Ave in Ardmore PA which Sidney Morgan had built in 1890-1892 while traveling back and forth to his farm called Tri-Corner Farm in Honeybrook. Near Spring City? I was given a handmade square nail used to build the house in 1890. They had 5 children who lived to adulthood, including my great uncle Col. Sidney Francis Morgan who helped the Czech underground and their government in exile in London and received the order of the White Lion. . He also helped in organizing the rebuilding of war torn Europe. My great aunt Laura Morgan tagged along and wrote long newsletters home. She had been a WAC and career civil service. My grandmother Ruth Dorothy Morgan stayed home and reared my father..... James Taylor lll son of another James Taylor born Scotland.
