Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co., reg. London. Far East service. 1939: Armed merchant cruiser. 1940: Damaged in collision with the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes off Freetown. Repaired. 1944: Converted in Mobile, Alabama into a troopship for the Far East. 1945: Part of the first convoy to enter Singapore after the war. 1949 Feb.: Resumed P&O Far East service. 1961 Sold to shipbreakers at Osaka, Japan.
