DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM

I have a passenger list showing this ship to have sailed from London on 4/11/1885 and arriving in Brisbane on 4/1/1886 which is different to the dates shown here. Does anyone have any further information on this ship and its journeys please.

Searching on TROVE, the Australian government archive, I found an article reporting that Miss Clatworthy had recently arrived from London on board the Duke of Buckingham - no further details of the ship, itinerary or other passengers. I have the diary of my great grandfather's brother (Clarence Booth) describing his voyage from Gravesend (25 March 1885) to Brisbane (27 May 1885) on the Buckingham. I don't think Australia was for him because he returned home to South Wales fairly shortly after !

I am wondering whether my Master Mariner great great uncle William Turner, of Sunderland, may have been the Master of the "Duke of Buckingham" (built at Barrow in 1880 and used on runs between England and Australia) in the 1880's. The Lloyds Shipping Register of 1882-83 shows W Turner as the Master of this ship.
