My great grandfather was Captain of the Inveresk in the late 1800’s my grandfather lived on the ship until aged 7 We have the ships diary, a painting of the ship that was painted by one of the ships crew plus photos of the crew and other artifacts. My father used to tell us the story how a young crew member fell overboard one night and my great grandfather grabbed some running gear and dived overboard to save his life. He was a very brave man

The gentleman who fell overboard my have been my 2nd Uncle Richard Beresford Bryers.....see newspaper cutting from 1891
