Crew were picked up October 8 by HMAS Otway.

My father isFlt. Lt. A.Q. Shorthouse . As an RAAF captain he was sent out to fly a sortie to search for the missing crew-after the "One and All" foundered and sank off Middleton Reef. He and his crew successfully located them alive in their life-raft/s When I asked him about It, he said with typical modesty "I didn't do much....they nearly shot me down with a distress flare."
