Alarmed to read that SS Oxfordshire was sold to breakers in 1958 since I sailed to Singapore on it in February 1959 from Southampton to Singapore and returned in I think May 1961. My father, the late Major John Finnerty was in the Army, he posted to Singapore and travelled six months before my mother Grace and my two sisters. Both voyages were exciting and memorable for a child.

Sailed to Aden as a child with the r Easton family on troopship Oxfordshire in 1961
