My great grand father James Molesworth, a union leader for "dock workers", was tasked with purchasing a suitable vessel for a move to South America, ultimately, New Australia in Paraquay under the leadership of William Lane . That was the Royal Tar. My GG father took his family including a son Voltaire. A daughter, Violetta, was born in New Australia and became known as "the little white princess" as the locals had never seen a newborn white child. James and family returned eventually and Voltaire became an editor to the Packer family newspapers as he matured and then a politician. He died in his early forties but was so influential he was given a state funeral. Much more but this is just the basics.

I am the grandson of John and Jenny Lane. William Lane was my great uncle. My grandparents along with my aunts Etty and Alice were onboard the Royal Tar on the first voyage from Sydney to Montevideo in 1893. My grandparents and their family had returned to Australia from South America by 1907. The story of the New Australia Movement and of the settlement Cosme in Paraguay is an important part of our family history.

My 2x great grandparents William Overton Kempson and his wife along with 4 young children the eldest being my great grandmother. We're all passengers aboard The Royal Tar, when it set sail for Paraquay (New Australia ), in1895. The first time tjey were to set sail, the children contracted Measles and were not allowed to travel, but a 2nd voyage was to be taken later on, to the New Australia where they lived for period of time, only to return to Australian shores. William Overton Kempson is mentioned in a story on trovenla.gov.au..... Sharon
