My Great Grandfather William Simpson as master of the "Ranger" in 1843 and in 1845 sailed from Ipswich England to N.B. St John's . He and his wife travelled in the 1850's to Australia in search of Gold at Ballarat Victoria. There in the 1860's records show he may be the Captain Simpson of the Storm Bird but I have not found any documents to prove that the Captain William at that time is actually my Great Grandfather and not anothe rman of the same name. Still searching!
