Inquiries were made by Customs officers on 13 Feb. concerning irregularities in ship's papers and possible breaches of the Shipping Act, and J.Anthony went on board on the 14th for the run into port. Instead, the vessel made off down the gulf and remained out until the 17th, when the crew mutinied and brought her back to Holdfast Bay. She proceeded into port on 2 Apr. and was seized by Customs.[Sexton]
