The captain deposed in the Port Lincoln Resident Magistrate's Court on 9 Sept. that five men had deserted from the ship, now at Sleaford B, and the boat in which they left had been found very much damaged. They were apprehended that afternoon and consented to return to the ship. The FRANCES had left Hobart on 4 Mar for 'the whaling station' with stores, and returned from Sleaford B on 31 Oct with oil and bone. (Sexton R.T.)
