Journey Notes

The Australian Royal Mail steamer Sydney, Captain W.H.Franklyn, arrived yesterday. She left Liverpool on the 14th of August and in 9 days and 17 hours reached St.Vincents where she remained coaling 4 days. From St.Vincents she reached Ascension in 8 days, but was only able to procure there 220 tons of coal, an insufficient supply, which obliged her to keep under canvas for 12 days; and she did not reach the Cape until the 27th of September. The voyage from the Cape to King George's Sound was performed in 21 days and 4 hours; but at the Sound she was detained for 5 days for want of labour. The voyage from the sound to Port Adelaide was performed in 5 days. She has on board 187 passengers for these colonies, chiefly first-class passengers. Register 4/11/1852
