Journey Notes
Departed Cork (June 1853) with coal for the A.S.N.Co., arrived at King George Sound after 155 days leaking badly. Encountering strong gales the captain could not enter Investigator Strait and so sailed south of Kangaroo Island for Backstairs Passage. Unable to enter there and 'nearly in a sinking state' he bore away for Port Elliot. With eight feet of water in the hold and provisions low Captain Corcoran was forced to beach the vessel south of the Murray Mouth, where she became a total wreck.
