Journey Notes

... The Journal of the master furnishes a few notes of progress, from which it appears that or leaving London she beat down Channel to Plymouth, from which port departure was taken on December 1, and lost sight of land on the 3rd. Light westerly winds took her to the Line in 27 days, and she crossed in 21°W., and fell in with fine south-east trades, but it ultimately became light, and progress towards the Cape was much lessened in consequence. After passing that promontory, the usual boisterous weather set in: but the vessel behaved admirably, and made some excellent day's run. Sighted Cape Borda on December 16 without a casualty of moment occurring, and after as pleasant a passage as could be wished; indeed, the passengers have testified to this in another column.
