My Uncle, Edward Cannon was just 15 years old when he boarded this ship at Tilbury Docks on 25th September 1925. He was a Dreadnought boy on his way to a better life in Australia. We have letters from Ted while on board and he spoke of the 'good food' and helping the waiters. He arrived in Sydney Harbour on 30th October and was sent to Wingham in NSW to work on a farm. Sadly, just 4 weeks after arriving in Australia he drowned in The Bright Manning River at the age of 16.
