Journey Notes
Owing to a report that the measles were on board the Hannah Maria, Dr.Duncan, the Health Officer, boarded her at the Lightship to make enquiries into the matter, and found that although a few cases of measles and scarletina had occurred during the voyage, the ship was free from any sickness. He has however ordered the bedding to be burnt, and the clothes to be boiled.
As the principal part of the Hannah Maria’s cargo is for Melbourne, it is not expected she will come up to the port. Register 5/9/1853.
Cleared out for Melbourne (7 Sept.), with 60 original passengers.
