I travelled to Australia with my stepmother and stepbrother and sister on this very voyage of the Otranto. We disembarked in Sydney where we were met by our father who was a sailor with the Royal Australian Navy having transferred from the British Navy in 1951. I was eight years when we made this journey, without a doubt THE most significant event of my life. For a young boy the trip was the adventure of a lifetime.
