The Clara is a fine American Ship, from Memel, with a very extensive cargo of timber, which will be landed here or in Melbourne, according to the demand for it in either market. She called at Elainore, but has touched at no other port on the passage. Captain Wells reports having spoken on January 9, in 49°N.lat., the British barque Fidus, bound from London to Cape Town. On January 11, in 38°3'N.,20°W., a large American vessel, having six topsailyards, bound to the southward, but could not make out her name. On January 12, in lat.3°45'S., 18°6'W.,spoke the American ship Dione, bound from Liverpool to Melbourne with passengers, 40 days out. In lat.10°36'S., 39°11'W., on February 21, again saw and exchanged signals with the same vessel, then in a southeast course. In lat.38°35'S., long.120°55'W., spoke the Dutch ship Stast Bally, bound from Melbourne to Batavia. Register 4/4/1859
