With firebricks, flooring & hardware. No passengers. Cleared out (16/17 July) for Swansea. Seized by Customs (20 July) for landing 3 kegs of contraband tobacco and 17,000 cigars; the mate was fined £100 but the captain Chose 9 months gaol. The ship was expected to sail 18 Aug. with a new captain and mate, with the matter to be settled by the Customs at Home. Departed (23 Aug) to Swansea, returned leaky (2 Sept) after copper ore shifted in heavy weather, resailed (24 Sept) after restowing cargo, but windbound near the bar until 29th under Captain Middleton.
