My parents Mr & Mrs Robert & Patricia Tedstone were on the TSS Fairstar Maiden Voyage UK to Australia to emigrate 1964.
Dad an architect and mum a hairdresser both fondly recall the vessel's interior, the staff, the entertainment and other guests.
Patricia's parents were also on the boat Major Arthur Hodgkins and his wife Barbara Hodgkins.
Pre leaving the UK Arthur sold the family's possessions from the Tontine Hotel (Ironbridge UK he managed) post his UK Army posting (India, where he met Barbara).
He carried the money with him on this voyage - until it was lost. Arthur dare not tell his family the stress and ordeal of perhaps arriving in Australia with nothing, so spent his voyage trying to find it.
It was near disembarking when a kind fellow returned this to him. Their new life began in Adelaide Australia. (Unfortunately can not upload media in area listed)
