While anchored off Cape de Couedic (27 May) the vessel was abandond by the crew, who rowed 60 miles to Smiths Bay, KI, and walked to Kingscote. They returned to Cape de Couedic with the tug, Yatala, to find their vessel still intact after 8 days.
