Journey Notes
The Flinders arrived on Thursday after a boisterous passage. Captain McCoy reports having left Melbourne at noon on the 11th, passed Cape Northumberland on the 12th, and up to that time had moderate winds and favourable weather. Then followed strong westerly breezes, with heavy sea and rain squalls. When off Cape Willoughby the steamer had a lively time, for the foreboom , the foresail and forestaysail were split, and while clearing away the debris the steamer was hove to for two hours. As soon as practicable she steamed ahead, and arrived on Thursday afternoon, bringing 23 horses, including Lurline and Sunbeam, in excellent form. Register 14/5/1875.
