The R.M.S.Rome left Gravesend on January 14 at 2 pm., and experienced moderate to strong westerly winds and cloudy to Gibraltar, fresh westerly breezes to Malta, and fine to Port Said. She left Suez on the 29th, with strong head winds in the southern portion of the Red Sea decreasing towards Aden, then fine north-easterly light winds to arrival at Colombo on Frebruary 9. She left Colombo on Frebruary 11 with light winds and fine to lat.10°S., afterwards fresh and strong and south-easterly trades, increasing to gale off Cape Leuwin to arrival at the Sound. Strong east and south-easterly winds and cloudy overcast weather, with heavy southerly swell, were experienced to Glenelg. She then passed Orient Company's steamer Liguria going the opposite way.
