From the diaries of T.B. Moore: "..... packed up my traps & was on board the Urimbla by twelve.
This steamer is a new one last year belonging to the A.S.N. Co & is really a nice comfortable boat very steady but slow. A head wind and rain.
Thur 23rd
A rather miserable day reading Alice or the Mysteries by Lord Lytton, have become quite a good sailor and do not feel the sea in the least, managed to pass the day comfortably, price of passage to Sydney £2.0.0. Headwinds.
Friday 24th
A fine day with head wind, should have been in Sydney by ten oclock but did not arrive until six P.M. During the voyage had a fine large cabin to myself.
Put up at the Sydney & Melbourne Coffee Palace near Circular Quay but do not like it so well as the other one. "
Mond 27th
Strong head wind & high sea arrived in Melb about 2 A.M. Tuesday.
Tue 28th
Left the boat about 7 AM & took rooms in the Victoria Coffee Palace.
