Sank one ship in the Atlantic and entered the Indian Ocean in August. Captured one ship and sank four before caturing the Norwegian tanker Storstad, which was used to mine Australian waters. Layed a mine field between Newcastle, NSW & Sydney (28 Oct). Mined the mouth of the Derwent River, Tas.(31 Nov). Layed a mine field at the bottom of Spencer Gulf (3 Dec) which damaged the steamer Hertford (8 Dec) and killed two ratings at Beachport (July 1941) when an attempt was made to disarm a beached mine.
