Comment

It should be noted that this was the ship used in the Cape Helles V beach landings at Gallipoli, her beaching under fire on the morning of 25th April 1915 led to the award of five Victoria Crosses, to; Commander Edward Unwin - Royal Navy (Captain of the then HMT River Clyde Midshipman George Drewry - Royal Naval Reserve (HMT River Clyde & HMS Hussar) Midshipman Wilfred St Aubyn Malleson - Royal Navy (HMS Cornwallis) Able Seaman William Charles Williams - Royal Navy ( posthumous ) (HMT River Clyde & HMS Hussar) Seaman George Mckenzie Samson - Royal Naval Reserve (HMT River Clyde & HMS Hussar) My interest is I am trying to trace her steps to Alexandria in Feb 1915 where she was requisitioned by the Royal Navy
