I sailed this ship with my parents and three siblings, Our crew members were from India our main cabin assistant name wad Ravindran. We share our dinning table with two single men Tony & Andrew. Became friends with a French girl call Sophie. I traveled with my three sisters.

This ship actually went all the way from Southampton to Auckland. I was travelling with my father and brother. It was such a wonderful time.

I travelled on the Australis from Sydney to Panama in April May 1975 before beginning an adventure in South America. I would like to confirm the actual dates.

MY PARENTS , TWO SISTERS AND I CAME TO ADELAIDE FROM THE UK ON THE AUSTRALIS IN MARCH 1974, WE COULDNT DOCK AT OUTER HARBOUR SO HAD TO GO TO MELBOURNE AND THEN CATCH THE OVERLAND TRAIN TO ADELAIDE . WE EMIGRATED FOR A BETTER LIFE THEN WE HAD IN UK, BEST THING MY PARENTS DID FOR US. I WAS 5 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME.

We migrated on this ship on its last migrant voyage to Australia, arriving at Station Pier in Melbourne. It was such an exciting time to be coming here and leaving our friends and relations behind, hoping for a better future. We were only 27 and 28 years old along with a four year old and a twelve month old baby. Meals on board were more than adequate but the shortage of fresh milk for my daughter was a surprise. The Indian crew staged a strike at one stage because they were not allowed to go ashore. Several parents, including myself were involved with a short raid on the kitchens in order to feed our children. À trip to Cairo which set off in the very early hours was almost a disaster when its participants were expected to board the ship from small craft onto a tiny ramp whilst going at a good speed. Lots of furniture and fittings were off-loaded in Iraklion where the Captains sister lived. We never regretted coming here on this ship and we were sad to learn of it breaking up not too long after our voyage.
