Application for Embarkation was entered on 27 January 1840 for Free Passage as an Agricultural Labourer. (Application number 6909) with commissioners agent Dr Bernard for "Free Passage to Paradise". Embarkation number allotted was 43- 44. The name was misspelt as packer instead of Parker. They sailed from Dublin on Wednesday 8th April 1840. The Family arrived 7 July 1840 on the vessel "William Nicol" from Grenock, Dublin. (State records indicate the ship arrive 17 July 1840) Hugh was 24, his wife Elizabeth was 25, Daughter Ann was 2 and Elizabeth was 4 months. They settled in Highercombe where Mary, Matilda, & James were born
