Our family arrived on the Skaugum on July 28th 1949. I was 10 years old at the time and am now 80. We left Naples and after stopping in Aden I recall that we were scheduled to sail to Freemantle but for some reason ( I believe the outbreak of some illness on board), the ship sailed directly to Melbourne. Fresh water had to be rationed because we didn't resupply in Freemantle. If any one has any detail or photos of this voyage they can contact me by E-mail. Rudi

I was born in 1952 and arrived in August 1955 at Fremantle.I was 3 years old and traveled with my father,Nicholas , my mother Maria and my sister Sevasti. I have been a doctor for 40 years and built REAPP TECHNOLOGY software company which I run to this day.

We were on the Skaugum and arrived in Fremantle 11 August 1955. We were sent to a camp stayed outside Fremantle for a while then travelled to Melbourne. My father decided though to start our new life in Sydney. We returned to Greece in 1980 and my son who is Australian by descent is now living in Australia since 2016.

MY COUSIN EMANUEL BORG AND UNCLE SAVIOR BORG ARRIVED IN MELBOURNE 1955 I WOULD LIKE THE EXACT DATE PLEASE

Hi, I can't tell you the exact date yet that Emanuel & Salvu Borg came to Australia in 1955, however I am interested in sharing information about this side of the family and when I get further information, sharing this with you. Emanuel was my dad and Salvu my Nannu. I have just started to follow the family tree too. Please feel free to contact me on the above email to share information. Thank you Grace

My grandfather Jonas Vytautas Eglinas arrived in Melbourne 30/07/1949 from Italy, on board Skaugum. He lived in Italy for 2 years, prior to that, it states he lived in Germany. It is reported he was born in Lithuania in 1930. As part of the immigration scheme, it was a requirement they had to register if they moved states in Australia. Unfortunately record keeping was not the best in those days and lots of documents sourced appeared to be conflictual. I am seeking information if anyone has any for family findings and cultural identity. Thank you

I'm looking for information regarding my Nanna Lucina and uncle aivars who where passengers on the skaugam between 1945-1949 any information would be much appreciated

Hello! I am Greek and my father was a doctor in Skaugum in 1956. His name was Petros Sykiotis. He left on the 23 January 1956 from the port of Piraeus in Greece escorting 1,200 Greek migrants to Port Adelaide Australia. The ship was going after to Saigon and then on its way back to Port-Said (18-3-1956) and ended in Marseille, France. I would appreciate if you have any related information. Athanassia
